about us

We are a non-profit, community-based, organisation. Membership of the organisation is open to all people living or working in and around Needham Market.

We aim to improve ICT (Information Communications Technology) access in Needham Market and the surrounding area.

The creation of the company has been thoroughly thought through to ensure the company is as open and inclusive as possible.

The organisation differs from a general commercial company because there is no private profit motive. Our reason for existing is to improve the facilities in our community, to make ICT available and accessible for the people of Needham Market.

If the company makes any surplus it will be used for furthering the aims of the organisation. It will be re-invested to expand and enhance services, to provide outreach to broaden the userbase and to improve facilities and premises.

For more information you can visit our old site, which holds all documents related to the company structure, funding, etc.

addendum

For a number of reasons our primary user group is young people. The uptake of the service by youngsters shows that there was a clear need, and we're pleased with the way that we've been able to fulfil this. We feel that providing this area for young people every weekday afternoon and evening is a considerable benefit to the whole community.

It has been difficult to fill this role while we are solely reliant on voluntary labour, which has meant that further plans for improving ICT in Needham Market have been slow to materialise. It is our intention to stabilise the current Internet Cafe, at which point we can focus our attention on expanding ICT access in Needham Market.

Specifically we would like to open another Internet Cafe to provide casual access to a wider range of people. We also want to offer basic computer and internet learning classes. And we want to find a way to provide these services to people who cannot access them normally because of illness, disability, location, or any other factor.
